Custom Military Doors

Experts in Bunker Doors

Military Doors is a special division of SOPHIA HIGH TECH, established in 2013, to supply High Quality Custom Doors: Bunker Door, Blast Door, Blast Resistant Door, Shielding Door, Anti-Burglar Door, Anti-Explosion Door, Military Door and Industrial Door.

Door construction varies upon the blast pressure and if fragmentation and fire resistance is required. The standard range of blast doors are designed to behave elastically during the effects of the blast and remain operational after the blast, thus providing repeated blast resistance and continued fire protection together with emergency egress or access.

SOPHIA design, manufacture and install hinged and sliding blast resistant doors. SOPHIA is available as pre-engineered solutions or designed to withstand individual dynamic blast load cases, or the combination of several blast cases.

Blast Resistant Doors

SOPHIA has a deep know-how on the Design, Development, Manufacturing, Assembling, Validation, Shipping, Installation and Qualification of Custom Doors for Bunkers Buildings. The Company supplies bunker doors in Steel S355 J2+N EN 10025-2 and/or  filled in with concrete and other shielding materials as paraffin, lead, polyethylene and cadmium.

Depending upon the structural opening size, the multiple latching mechanism is utilized to ensure that a safe haven is provided with the door set self closing and latching after each operation. Where high blast loads or sizes dictate, then a shoot bolt system is used to withstand the effects of both rebound and negative blast pressures. Both options are available with pneumatic, hydraulic or electrical power station operation with a selection of safety mechanisms. Added fragmentation protection can be provided to the external door skin to prevent projectile penetration through the door leaf.

Blast Load

A blast is a destructive wave of highly compressed air spreading outwards from an explosion. The explosion initially creates a shock front or pressure wave, when this hits an obstacle like the ground or building surface it is reflected. This reflected front or reflected pressure wave is significantly greater than the initial shock front or pressure wave. The risk of a blast can come from an intentional explosion like a terrorist attack or an accidental explosion from a chemical or fuel spill.

In SOPHIA, we manufacture and install blast resistant doors, with all quality certification. Our door sets are designed against three types of blast: deflagration, detonation and explosion. They can be designed to meet a pre-set blast level as laid out in the standard EN 13123/124-2 or to a specific requirement. All our door sets are also designed inline with Government’s “People in Protected Spaces” performance criteria.

Our doors sets are available as hinged single or double leaf doors and sliding doors. They can be manufactured for any size aperture and can include fragmentation protection and fire resistance if required. Depending on the blast load a multiple latching locking mechanism or a shoot bolt system is utilized. Both options are available as manually, pneumatic, hydraulic or electrically operated.
